About the AI voice agent

When you call a Deske-powered practice phone number, your call may be answered by an AI receptionist instead of a human. The agent introduces itself as a virtual receptionist and offers to transfer to a human or take a message.

Call recording and transcription

Calls may be recorded, transcribed, and summarized for the practice's review and to improve the service. Recordings and transcripts are visible to the practice in their Deske admin portal. The agent will disclose recording at the start of the call.

Not for emergencies

Do not use the AI voice agent to report emergencies or seek emergency care. If you have an emergency, hang up and dial 911.

Not for diagnosis or medical advice

The AI agent is not a clinician. It does not diagnose, give medical or dental advice, or recommend treatment. Its job is to schedule appointments, capture call context, and route calls per the practice's rules.

Practice review responsibility

The practice operating the phone number is responsible for reviewing call summaries and following up where appropriate.

Human transfer

The AI agent will attempt to transfer to a human or take a callback message when configured by the practice. Human transfer is not guaranteed in every case — fallback is taking a message.

Sharing sensitive information

Avoid sharing sensitive medical detail with the agent unless the practice has confirmed a HIPAA-appropriate configuration is in place. See our HIPAA & BAA status for current guidance.
