How text-message opt-in works
Last updated: 2026-07-23
Deske provides an AI-powered front desk for independent practices (dental, veterinary, and similar). Practices send appointment-related text messages — confirmations, reminders, recall notices, and customer-care replies — only to patients and clients who have opted in. Consent is collected per person, logged with the booking, and is never a condition of purchasing or receiving care.
Opt-in on the online booking form
Every Deske practice booking form collects the visitor's phone number alongside this consent checkbox. It is unchecked by default, and booking completes with or without it:
Shown exactly as it appears on the contact step of every practice booking form. Try the live flow at deskehq.deske.ai/book — pick a visit type and a time to reach this step.
Opt-in by phone
Callers booking with a practice's front desk — including its AI receptionist — are asked whether they'd like appointment updates by text. A verbal yes is recorded as consent and logged with the booking. Declining changes nothing about the appointment.
The fine print
- Message frequency varies with your appointments.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- Reply STOP to any message to opt out. Reply HELP for help.
- Consent is not a condition of purchase.
- No mobile information is sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
